We are pleased to make staff aware of the following training opportunity made available by Anthology Blackboard.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming education, prompting Teesside University to rethink and adapt our teaching methods and redefine course design, development, and delivery. To help staff at Teesside University navigate this change, Anthology Blackboard is offering free access to the first two modules of their ‘AI Literacy for Educators’ course. These two modules include the following content.
Course Modules:
- Module 1: AI Core Concepts and Application Overview in Education
- Understand the basic concepts of AI, its limitations, and its application in education.
- Analyse the pedagogical implications of AI in digital teaching and learning.
- Identify the new skills and competencies a digital educator must develop to work with AI.
- Learn the principles of prompting to obtain optimal results from AI in various educational tasks.
- Module 2: Introduction to AI Design Assistant
- Explore the capabilities of AI within Blackboard to distinguish useful elements for a given context.
- Understand and apply the functionality of the AI Design Assistant to courses and materials.
- Critically assess and refine course designs and elements generated by Anthology’s AI Design Assistant for pedagogical effectiveness and alignment with learning objectives.

How to Access:
All Teesside University staff can enrol in this course via the joining link (AI Literacy for Education Course). Staff may have to create an account using their Teesside University credentials on the Anthology Blackboard Academy site. Once registered and enrolled in the course, staff will have access to the AI Literacy for Education course and its two modules.
Certification:
Upon completion of each module, there will be a brief knowledge check assessment. Staff members who complete both modules will be awarded an ‘AI Literacy for Educators’ certificate.
Enrollment Window:
The window to sign up and enrol for free on these courses is only available until April 30th. Once enrolled, staff will have 6 months to complete. Registration after this date will be at a cost.

These courses are invaluable for helping staff become more AI and digitally literate. They also offer the opportunity to refresh or learn about the AI Design Assistant tool included in Blackboard Ultra, enhancing your ability to create effective and engaging educational content.
