At Teesside, we recognise the vital role personal tutors play in supporting students’ academic success and well-being. However, we also understand that being a personal tutor can bring its own challenges, whether it’s navigating university policies, supporting students in crisis, or addressing individual student needs. That’s why we’re excited to introduce the Personal Tutoring Support Line, a dedicated service designed to assist personal tutors in their crucial role.

Whether you’re addressing academic, pastoral, or well-being challenges or unsure on how best to help a student in need, we offer a triage service and expert advice to help you navigate the complexities of your role.

This service is tailored to support both new and experienced tutors. New tutors can access clear guidance on the Code of Practice and comprehensive training to support them as they settle into their role. For more experienced tutors, the support line provides a space to troubleshoot complex situations and identify appropriate referral routes.

By using the Personal Tutoring Support Line, tutors can save time, gain confidence, and ensure students receive the right support. Whether you have a quick query or a more complex issue, our team is here to help.  The Personal Tutoring Support Line is simple to use, just drop us an email at PTsupport@tees.ac.uk, and a dedicated member of the team will be in touch.

Beyond immediate advice, we offer details of professional development opportunities, UKAT resources, and guidance on the UKAT Professional Framework for Advising and Tutoring. Additionally, the team is actively developing student-facing resources to raise awareness and encourage student engagement with personal tutoring. If you’d like to learn more or get involved, please contact us via the email address above.
