The PSF 2023 was launched on 31st January 2023 and builds on the strengths of the previous PSF while placing much more overt emphasis on:
- the effectiveness and impact of teaching
- the context in which the teaching takes place
- inclusivity – both from the perspective of the wider range of staff now able to engage with the PSF and how more inclusive approaches ensure all learners feel respected, valued and have equity in opportunity to succeed
With a greater emphasis on digital/technology, professional values, support for students and collaboration, the revisions ensure the PSF is fit-for-the-future and remains relevant and compelling wherever and however higher education teaching and learning are delivered. Further information around the PSF 2023, and the review that has taken place, can be found at this link HERE.
Teesside University has its own Professional Development Framework for teaching and supporting learning in Higher Education: RELT (Recognising Excellence in Learning and Teaching). It encompasses our PgCLTHE taught programme and our Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme; it is accredited by Advance HE (AHE) providing external and independent confirmation that these programmes are aligned with the Professional Standards Framework for Teaching and Supporting Learning in Higher Education.
Given the launch of the PSF 2023, as an accredited institution, we are currently working through our transition arrangements to ensure that all our provision is fully aligned to PSF 2023. We have agreed with Advance HE that we will submit all revised documentation in the Autumn and once approved we will be working with PSF 2023.
The following provides some key dates and activities reflecting our transition arrangements and is particularly relevant for colleagues who are currently registered with us as progressing Fellowship applications through our CPD Programme and for those colleagues interested in progressing Fellowship applications in the coming months.
- Delivery of Workshops for the CPD Programme with RELT will resume, with the content revised to reflect the PSF 2023, once we have approval from AHE; this is likely to be January 2024.
- Spring 2024 will be the last opportunity to submit applications via the CPD Programme within RELT under the Old PSF (UKPSF 2011).
- Autumn 2024 will be the first submission opportunity to submit applications via the CPD Programme within RELT under PSF 2023. Autumn 2024 will be the final opportunity for any referred applications via the CPD Programme within RELT under the Old PSF.
- Spring 2025 will receive submissions and referrals via the CPD Programme within RELT under the PSF 2023 only.
