Turnitin have just released a welcome update to their new interface – the ability to batch download work from the Submission List.

To access this feature, log into Blackboard and navigate to your Turnitin assignment. You can do this via the Module Content space or directly through the Gradebook. When you access the assignment, you will be presented with a Submission list (as illustrated below). Over to the right of the interface, you can see a Download button. Clicking this will give you a range of different items to download. Select the appropriate choice for your needs, and the download will be processed. It will then automatically download onto your device for you to access.

You can now download a variety of different items:

  1. Submission List
  2. All reports and files
  3. Similarity Reports
  4. Grading and feedback reports
  5. Originally submitted files

Submission List

Select this option to download a CSV file, which can be opened in Microsoft Excel. The file includes a list of all submissions, showing you the student name and email, assignment name and their submission date. If you’ve marked their work, the grade allocated will be included as well as the Similarity Score and any flags that may have been identified. Finally, if the student has viewed their feedback, this is also recorded.

All reports and files

Selecting this option will download a zip file containing all the Grading Reports, Original Files, and Submission Reports. As this option contains all the reports, it might take longer than the other options. So if you only need (say) the original files, it might be more efficient to select the specific option required.

Similarity Reports

Select this option if you want to download the Similarity Reports for each student submission. This option will return a zip file containing one report per student, breaking down the similarity index and identifying possible matches with specific sources.

Grading and Feedback Reports

This option will produce a zip file containing the various grading reports, one per student. Each report is in a PDF format, and will show you the score as well as any feedback you might have given the student.

Please note, if you are using a rubric to assist with marking, this report currently does not include the rubric details. In addition, if you’ve adjusted the score (for example, your rubric created a calculated grade at 72.6% and you’ve rounded it up to a final grade of 73%), the report will only show the final grade, and not the calculated score. A student can download their own Grade and Feedback Report, and this includes both the rubric details, as well as the calculated score.

Originally Submitted Files

By selecting this option, you are able to download the original file submissions made by all students. It will zip up the files into a single zip file. Inside that zip file you will find a folder for each student, and inside each folder will be their original submission.
