Microsoft’s Innovative Educator Expert (MIEE) programme is a prestigious recognition scheme designed to celebrate educators who are transforming education through innovative use of Microsoft technologies. Whether you’re academic, support, or in a leadership position, this is an opportunity to join a prestigious global community of forward-thinking professionals — and Teesside University’s Digital Learning Specialist team is here to support you every step of the way.
Completing the MIEE will support your professional recognition goals; Fellowship of Advance HE, evidencing commitment to personal development and professional updating.

Applying/renewing for the MIEE
Applicants will need to self-nominate in mid-May when the application window opens. There are several prerequisites you can complete beforehand that can be started now:
- Step 1: Register on Microsoft Learn and create a profile. When self-nominating for the MIEE You’ll be asked to share the URL to your achievements in Learn (learn.microsoft.com > Profile picture > Profile > Achievements) by copying it and pasting it into the nomination form.
- Step 2: Complete FOUR learning pathways:
- Step 3: Self-Nomination (Opens May 2025). Once the window opens, submit your application through Microsoft’s portal and provide evidence of your impact, creativity, and leadership in education.
Note: Please use generative AI responsibly. You may use it to refine or proofread your reflections, but all responses should remain your own.
Already an MIEE?
If you’ve previously earned MIEE status, congratulations! You’ll still need to renew annually, but the reapplication process is more streamlined.
