About this session:

Instances of academic misconduct seem to be on the increase, at Teesside University and across the Higher Education sector.  Why is this and what can we do about it?

This interactive session will provide participants with the opportunity for guided discussion about issues of academic misconduct, with the view to trying to understand why it takes place and offer some suggestions about how to promote academic integrity.  Therefore, this session aims to address the following:

  • What do we mean by academic integrity and academic misconduct?
  • Why is academic misconduct on the increase?
  • Do we know which practices students (including those from outside the United Kingdom) engage in that cause academic misconduct?
  • How can tutors at Teesside University promote academic integrity?
  • What does promoting academic integrity mean in terms of student support (including with students from outside the United Kingdom)?

Please contact Éric Bel e.bel@tees.ac.uk if you have any queries about the above.

This session will take place online (Microsoft Teams), on Wednesday 15thNovember 2023 from 3-4 pm.
