The 7th Annual Blackboard Users Conference took place at the University of Durham on 14th and 15th December 2006 – the theme being “The Power of 2”, focusing on the use of Web 2.0 technologies.

The E-learning Team very unselfishly sacrificed attendance at their Christmas Party to go along and present on the use of podcasts across the University, the main emphasis being on how this is improving the student experience.

We’d like to thank Barbara Wilford (SoH&SC), Andrew Cuthbertson (SoH&SC), Sarah Dexter-Smith (SoH&SC), and Chris Blake (West Mercia Police) for biting the bullet and getting stuck into podcasting and allowing us to talk about their work!

As well as our own presentation (which was obviously the best by far) there were some very interesting talks from fellow members of the Blackboard community.  Some were very brave and used the KEEpad audience response technology (similar to ‘ask the audience’ on Who Wants to be a Millionaire!) within their presentations which I have to say, although fairly simple, proved a great way to keep the audience involved with the talk.

For a little more about the Durham Conference and also articles on various other topics please check out the December E@T Newsletter.
