The UK Engagement Survey (UKES) is the only national undergraduate survey to focus on student engagement in the UK. It is modelled on the US National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE).
UKES explores student engagement in activities linked to high-quality learning outcomes, and provides us with feedback on how students are challenged and encouraged by their studies. This will allow us to develop a stronger evidence base for enhancing learning and teaching across the University.
The survey explores a number of themes, including:
- Critical thinking
- Learning with others
- Interacting with staff
- Reflecting and connecting
- Course challenge
- Engagement with research and inquiry
- Staff-student partnerships
- Skills development
- How students spend their time
