LTExChange Symposium

Thursday May 19th, 2022

9:00– 12:30 – via Microsoft Teams

Theme: “Creative Assessment in Digital Education”

Outline

Integral to developing the skills, knowledge, and ‘knowhow’ needed to thrive in increasingly complex and uncertain futures is the capacity to think and work creatively. Creativity is core to realising authentic future facing learning and the context for many of the wider capabilities and complex learning we seek to develop through our courses and modules. It is how, through the curriculum, we empower our students and graduates to develop the self-awareness and wide-ranging qualities, abilities, and behaviours to prepare for the future and sustain rewarding professional lives.

We recognise the value of teaching creative and digital communication skills, and we actively focus on them to help students succeed in their studies and gain an edge in today’s competitive workplace. Within this assessment is recognised as having a major impact on students and their learning whatever the delivery model (face-to-face, online, blended). Developing and deploying innovative assessment supports the need to be responsive to the requirements of an increasingly uncertain learning environments, through development of sustainable approaches and designs that are sensitive to the needs and circumstances of students, giving them more control and ownership over assessment processes and their learning.

In this second LTExChange Symposium we will explore institutional alongside international perspectives on digital innovation and creative assessment.  Framed by Teesside’s commitment to Future Facing Learning and cutting-edge digital education, the Symposium will showcase School-led projects as part of the Adobe-funded Faculty Development Project designed to support creative assessment tasks and processes, exploring, and embedding various Adobe Creative Cloud applications.

The symposium will also bring together a panel of colleagues from Central Departments (Student and Library Services, Student Futures, and SLAR) and Schools to explore new perspectives, key learning, emerging themes and challenges, as well future opportunities in digital literacies, student support, and creative authentic learning opportunities.
