I’m studying the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship at Teesside University. Here are five things I love about the course:

  1. I get to learn while doing a job I love

It’s been great to have the opportunity to study for a degree while doing a job that I enjoy so much. Working in a marketing role, I’ve previously only had experience in this area. This course has helped me understand this in a wider business context, and how my role fits in relation to other areas of my organisation. I also get the opportunity to put the skills and knowledge I’ve learned into practice.

  1. Meeting new people

Other students on my course come from many different businesses, with various backgrounds and experiences. Speaking to them helps me understand jobs and sectors that are different to my own, which contributes to my learning.

  1. Gaining leadership skills

Studying this course has helped me realise how important leadership and management is. I’ve learnt so much about self-awareness and developing into the best possible manager, and hope that this can help me lead people in the future. I still have so much more to learn!

  1. The variety

The Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship is such a varied course. You study fundamental business skills, such as finance, marketing, human resources and management, while also learning a lot about yourself as a future leader. This gives me a much broader experience of different areas and where my strengths lie.

  1. The support

Throughout my study, I have been given continuous support from my course leader, apprenticeship quality coach, module leaders, my manager and my peers. I know that I can approach any of these people for help when I need it. Feedback on each module has always been constructive, helping me improve my work as the course progresses.

I look forward to seeing what the future holds when I complete my course and would highly recommend this apprenticeship to anyone looking to progress in their own career.
