The thought of going to University can be a stressful experience, and with so much to consider, we’re here to give you a hand with preparing for Uni with our summer checklist. Some things are that obvious in your day-to-day life that you might forget to take them if you’re moving away to Uni!
You want your accommodation to feel like home, so don’t forget:
- duvet and sheets
- pillows and pillowcases
- decorations like photos, plants, collectables, and any other little trinkets that you’d have at home to make your room feel like it’s yours
- coat hangers
- an airer
- a bin for your bedroom.
Things that you’ll need daily and anything important:
- charger cables and adapters
- any ID and important documents you might need
- a couple of bags to suit different needs, like a small one for trips out and a bigger one for things like your laptop and textbooks you use
- any medicine you need to take and essentials like paracetamol and ibuprofen
Bathroom and kitchen essentials:
- mugs and glasses
- pots and pans for cooking, this will depend on what and how often you like to cook
- chopping board and trays
- cutlery
- plates and bowls
- bin bags, foil and cling film
- cooking utensils like wooden spoons and spatulas
- tea towel and dish cloth
- shampoo
- toothpaste
- soap
- bleach
- anti-bacterial wipes
- toilet roll.
You’ll probably need some extra bits and bobs once you arrive and get settled in, but these essentials should set you up nicely for your first few weeks.
