The thought of going to University can be a stressful experience, and with so much to consider, we’re here to give you a hand with preparing for Uni with our summer checklist. Some things are that obvious in your day-to-day life that you might forget to take them if you’re moving away to Uni!

You want your accommodation to feel like home, so don’t forget:

  • duvet and sheets
  • pillows and pillowcases
  • decorations like photos, plants, collectables, and any other little trinkets that you’d have at home to make your room feel like it’s yours
  • coat hangers
  • an airer
  • a bin for your bedroom.

Things that you’ll need daily and anything important:

  • charger cables and adapters
  • any ID and important documents you might need
  • a couple of bags to suit different needs, like a small one for trips out and a bigger one for things like your laptop and textbooks you use
  • any medicine you need to take and essentials like paracetamol and ibuprofen

Bathroom and kitchen essentials:

  • mugs and glasses
  • pots and pans for cooking, this will depend on what and how often you like to cook
  • chopping board and trays
  • cutlery
  • plates and bowls
  • bin bags, foil and cling film
  • cooking utensils like wooden spoons and spatulas
  • tea towel and dish cloth
  • shampoo
  • toothpaste
  • soap
  • bleach
  • anti-bacterial wipes
  • toilet roll.

You’ll probably need some extra bits and bobs once you arrive and get settled in, but these essentials should set you up nicely for your first few weeks.
