Here we go!

The worry of exam results is over and the countdown to university is on, but just how ready are you?

I’m a fan of good old-fashioned spreadsheets and lists to help organise my life, but if you aren’t, here is a handy checklist to make sure you have the important stuff sorted and are ready to go in September.

Enrolment

Your applicant portal should now be your enrolment portal, which means you need to do a number of things:

  • register online (open from 1 September)
  • upload a photo
  • upload your ID.

There are useful guidelines within the portal providing examples of what you need to upload, and green ticks let you know when you have successfully completed a section. When all three sections have green ticks, you have completed your enrolment.

Remember, the photo you upload will be used on your Teesside University smart card (TUSC) and will stay with you for some time – make sure you like it and it’s appropriate. It will be ready to collect during Welcome Week.

Our admissions team do all of this manually, so it can take time. Don’t fret!

Blackboard

This is the University’s online learning environment and includes learning materials and messages about your modules – it’s where you submit assignments and coursework. Blackboard will become part of your student life, so have a look around and familiarise yourself with the platform before starting your course.

Student Support Number

Your student support number (or SSN) is given to you by the Student Loans Company and usually consists of letters and numbers. You need to enter it in your enrolment portal. We confirm your attendance with Student Loans Company for it to release your funding, so it’s pretty important you provide this number.

Timetables

Never miss a lecture or seminar! MyTU is your one-stop shop for your timetable, class information and emails. Make mytu.tees.ac.uk a favourite and stay in the know with any changes to your schedule or updates from the uni.

iPad

If you are eligible, you can arrange to collect your iPad from the University at a date and time to suit you from early September. You will be sent details through your University email account after you have enrolled to book your collection slot.

Accommodation

After enrolment you will be invited to join the official Facebook group for your allocated accommodation. This is a great way to connect with people you will live with, make friends before arriving on campus and stay up to date with announcements from the Uni’s accommodation team.

Good luck!

Kate Nelson, Admissions Marketing Co-ordinator.
