Clearing is your chance to secure a place at university after the main UCAS deadline has passed. If you are offered a place through Clearing, you can still start uni this September.
Most universities offer places through Clearing across a wide range of subjects.
When does Clearing open?
Saturday 5 July 2025. To apply, you’ll need to have already received your results – so if you are a college-leaver, you’ll need to wait until A-level results day on Thursday 14 August. You can check your UCAS Hub from 8am to see your results and if you’re eligible for Clearing.
Why apply through Clearing?
You might want to consider Clearing if you:
- missed the UCAS deadline
- weren’t made any offers
- declined all your offers
- didn’t meet the conditions of a conditional offer and haven’t been accepted by your firm or insurance choice
- applied after 30 June.
Who is Clearing for?
Clearing might be for you if you:
- want to change your subject choice
- decide to study somewhere else, for example closer to home
- didn’t get the grades you were hoping for
- got better grades than expected.
