Placements are a vital part of the learning journey on many of our health courses at Teesside. There’s also benefits to businesses and organisations that take on placement students, building a win-win partnership.
Courses with a placement element offer students the opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge in real-world settings and explore what it’s like to work in their chosen field, developing specialised skills alongside experienced professionals. Students gain key skills, enhance their confidence and prepare for a successful career. The networking opportunities during their placement also provide a stepping stone to a long-term role after graduation.
For businesses and organisations, placement students are a pool of enthusiastic, knowledgeable talent. Students can provide fresh perspectives and new ideas, enhancing working practices and making them valuable contributors.
Public Health South Tees have benefited from positive experiences since partnering with Teesside University to host students from our Master of Public Health (MPH) course.
‘Public Health South Tees has seen significant positive impacts since receiving work placements from courses including the MPH. Teesside University students have presented themselves professionally and proficiently in the workplace. They have brought fresh perspectives to working practices and campaigns, giving Public Health South Tees and Middlesbrough Council access to up-and-coming talent.
‘Having students onboard has helped increase diversity in our departments and enabled staff members to develop supervisory and mentor skills as part of their own progression. We appreciate our partnership with the University, and look forward to developing other areas of joint and collaborative working.’ Kerry – Strategic Asset and Business Development Manager, Public Health South Tees
