Even though this year’s UCAS equal consideration deadline has passed, there are still plenty of options available if you missed it. Don’t worry, you still have time to apply to start university this September.

Do your research

Have a course and university in mind before applying, as this will help speed up the process. The UCAS course search facility is a great place to start looking for available courses.

Remember, course availability is constantly changing. Regularly check UCAS or contact universities directly before making an application.

Attend an open day or online event

Attending an open day is a great way to explore your options, ask questions, and get a feel for the university. It’s recommended to visit your top-choice university before applying, but attending an open day after applying can be just as valuable.

Check our events page for information on upcoming open days and events.

Your personal statement

The application process remains the same—you will need a strong personal statement and a reference. There is plenty of guidance available online to help you write a standout statement, along with support from your school or college.

Make a late application

The deadline for applications after the equal consideration period is 30 June 2025. While there’s no guarantee your preferred course and university will have spaces, many still accept applications.

If you plan to apply, the earlier, the better. However, you may consider delaying your application until UCAS Extra opens on 26 February, as universities will update UCAS with courses that still have places available.

Or wait for Clearing

If you miss the 30 June deadline, you can still apply, but your application will automatically go into Clearing – which opens on 5 July.

It’s best to go into Clearing well-prepared with a clear goal, but it can also be an opportunity to explore courses you may not have previously considered. Over 60,000 students secure a university place through Clearing every year, so stay positive!

Defer or change your start date

If September isn’t the right time for you, we also offer November and January intakes for undergraduate courses, giving you more flexibility in starting your studies. Alternatively, you can defer your offer and start university the following September if you need more time.

Don’t panic, take your time and best of luck!
