As a seasoned gamer, I\u2019ve played a diverse range of titles over the years and come to appreciate games across a range of genres and whilst within recent years my preference has shifted towards classic horror titles, I\u2019m always up to try something new.<\/p>\n
In this post, I\u2019ll be talking about my personal top three games of all time and give a bit of insight into why I love them as much as I do.<\/p>\n
Never has a game from a genre I never had any interest in changed who I am as a person as much as this cult horror classic did. I never had an interest in horror games in the slightest and I still don\u2019t really know what drew me to try this game in the first place, but I\u2019ve never looked back since. It\u2019s an experience that you\u2019ll remember, and a masterpiece of psychological horror. I love the first four Silent Hill tiles equally, but as my introduction to the series, it holds a special place in my heart.<\/p>\n
2. Resident Evil 2 (1998 original and 2019 remake)<\/p>\n
I\u2019m grouping the original 1998 release and the 2019 remake together because these are both phenomenal games. Following my foray into horror with Silent Hill, the natural line of progression was onto Resident Evil. The entire series is fantastic, with a strong lineage of titles, movies, comics, and expanded narrative make Resident Evil as a franchise so iconic. RE2 was my introduction into the series with the 1998 original leaving a lasting impression on me and pulling me into a world with stories of bioweapons, multinational conglomerates, espionage and zombies, it left me wanting so much more.<\/p>\n
I can say that to me, this game is nothing short of perfection. I was recommended this game by a friend back when I was in secondary school when I was only 13 years old, and once I completed my first playthrough, it was hard to describe how I felt. A story about a group of highschool students who take up the role of investigating a mysterious string of deaths inside the foggy town of Inaba in Japan.<\/p>\n
They find out these deaths are related to a school rumour surrounding the midnight channel and a world within their TV\u2019s. The game focuses on the cast coming to terms with their true selves. It\u2019s a game that left a lasting impression on me with it\u2019s amazing narrative and memorable characters, and one of the few games I always find myself coming back too.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
