With a dissertation deadline this Friday a live brief may seem like a pain in the back! Not for our level 6 student who we’re busy tackling one today. Set by the local NHS, student were tasked to create a name and logo for one of its new muscle physio class. Lectures gave a helping hand providing some exceptional names for the class… ‘the gym won’t fix it’.

Bookin’ loving it: Post from Tees bit on the side

Year two dissertation prep was given the go ahead yesterday, which sees some of the Level 5 cohort more enthused than others. I quote here, ‘Do you ever love a book so much you wish you could live in it?’. Wise words following an hour long nose to page session with ‘Sometimes I Think, Sometimes I am’… Oh, and just in case, here’s a demonstration, well rather an attempt.

N54° progress: Post from Tees bit on the side

WP_20140117_022WP_20140117_028 (1) After careful consideration, the team working on the N54° magazine has made the necessary decisions.

The concept behind the latest issue is “10 words to represent Graphic Design.” These words will appear throughout the magazine, in images, quotes and experimental typography. The logo will appear in different styles but remain more or less the same.

Less than an hour to go but the team is making good progress. We eagerly await the results!

Morning all! Friday the 17nth of January 2014 and a team of 2nd and 3rd year Graphic Design students have been given an exciting new brief; the production of the 3rd edition of “N54°”, a limited edition graphic design magazine. They’re equipped with inspirational books, computers, pens, scalpels, scanners and printing cards aplenty. Now they have numerous things to consider. Should they redesign the logo? What tone of voice is appropriate? What is the main concept? What about grids, colour, typography and imagery?

But there is no time for hesitation. The issue must be organised, designed and produced by 16:00 this afternoon. So it begins!
