ISTD Award ceremony 2015: Post from Tees bit on the side

Image

The waiting was over and finally three of our four International Society of Typographic Designers’ award winners were able to attend this year’s ceremony in London to get their hands on their highly sought after certificates. Looking uber-serious, but trust me they’re were really happy, the ever creative Linda Carlsen, Mark Longworth and Josh Davies can be seen above in a pose reminiscent of some kind of electro indie pop group – and why wouldn’t they?!?! Congratulations again to our other success, Victor Dina, who was unable to attend the ceremony.

Creative Conscience Awards 2015: Post from Tees bit on the side

Image

It’s great to report that our very own third year Graphic Design students, Ashley Beaumont (photo: right) and Robyn Makings (photo: centre), were awarded bronze at last night’s Creative Conscience Awards in London for their innovative interactive work to encourage children to attend hospital appointments. The awards recognise work that promotes socially valuable, human centred design that can enable and inspire people to change their lives and the lives of those around them for the better. Industry icons such as Michael Wolff and Margaret Calvert are just two of the judges who are part this award programme. It was a great night for design at Teesside University overall as product design student, Timothy Paul Hargreaves (photo: left), was also awarded bronze in his category.

The London Show Down: Post from Tees bit on the side

Image

It’s time again to say goodbye for another year to the D&AD New Blood exhibition at Old Spitalfields Market in East London. Now that the week has concluded we can report that it’s been hot, it’s been busy, it’s been hotter, it’s been hard work, it’s been a little hotter, it’s been fun, it’s been ever so slightly cooler, it’s been exciting, it’s been getting quite warm again, it’s all been worthwhile… as always.

Nice words: Post from Tees bit on the side

Image

We’re liking a comment in a recent post on his blog by Derek Yates, Programme Leader of BA Graphic Arts at Winchester School of Art, and co-author of Communication Design, published by Bloomsbury. Having visited us at Teesside University to deliver a guest lecture, Derek describes us as “a course that is rapidly establishing itself as one of the top Graphic Design degree courses outside London”.

That’s what we like to hear!
