Third Year Nicole Patterson talks about her recent work experience at Dance Elite: Post from Perform@tees

I undertook my placement at DancElite school of freestyle dance which is based where I live, Peterlee. I completed the requested 24 hours over 6 weeks. Two hours a night, twice a week. During my placement, I worked closely with ages 3 to 18, making dances, taking warmups and rehearsing their competition routines. I believe the most challenging part of the placement was actually going there for the first week. Getting to know the students was quite nerve-wracking however, after the first week I grew close to the students and have now got a paid job at the school, teaching dance for two hours a week. The placement was very beneficial for me as it gave me an insight and a chance to put community dance teaching into practice. Doing the placement has assured me that the career path I once set myself will be the right decision.
