We\u2019re all set for another exciting month of events at Teesside University Students\u2019 Union.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Whether you\u2019re looking to take in some scenery with a trip to the Lake District or to try your luck at the St Patrick\u2019s Special Bongo\u2019s Bingo event, there\u2019s plenty of opportunities to step out of the classroom and socialise this March.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Person<\/span><\/p>\n

Karaoke Night\u00a0 |\u00a0 Every Wednesday night beginning 1 March<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

There\u2019s nothing like a bit of karaoke to usher in the new month. And where better to sing along to all the best tunes than at the Students\u2019 Union?<\/span><\/p>\n

Bring some mates or take to the mic as a solo artist at Karaoke Night<\/a>, The Terrace, 8.00pm – 11.45pm.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Don\u2019t forget to check out Time Out\u2019s list<\/a> of the top 50 karaoke classics for some inspiration, from epic ballads to dancefloor-filling anthems.<\/span><\/p>\n

TUSU Elections 2023 – Meet the Candidates\u00a0 |\u00a0 2 March<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s time to vote for the next three Teesside University Student Officers – President Education, President International and President Wellbeing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Come along to The Hub, 12.00pm – 3.00pm, to meet the candidates<\/a> and hear directly from them as they discuss why they think they\u2019re the right fit for the roles and field your questions. For those who can\u2019t attend, some of the event will be streamed on the Students\u2019 Union Facebook<\/a> and Instagram<\/a> pages.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Science of Psychedelics with Neuroscientist Maria Balaet\u00a0 |\u00a0 2 March<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Fancy learning more about the science and history behind psychedelics? <\/span><\/p>\n

Join neuroscientist Maria Balaet as she explores all this and more, including the latest research with LSD, psilocybin, DMT (ayahuasca) and mescaline. Maria will also look at what the future of psychedelic science could be, including the potential for it to be used therapeutically for specific mental health conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Back by popular demand –\u00a0<\/span>Bongo\u2019s Bingo<\/a> is returning to the Students\u2019 Union for another epic night of mini raves, dance-offs, singalongs, wild prizes and some good old-fashioned bingo.<\/span><\/p>\n

Find it in The Hub between 6.00pm \u2013 11.00pm, with last entry at 7.30pm and the first game beginning at 8.00pm.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Touchdown \u2013 Pop Punk and Emo Party Anthems\u00a0 |\u00a0 4 \u2013 5 March<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Calling all pop punk and emo fans. The SU is hosting another raging Touchdown<\/a> event so you can party the night away to tunes from Panic! At The Disco (RIP), Paramore, Green Day and more.<\/span><\/p>\n

You can find Touchdown in The Terrace, 11.00pm \u2013\u00a0 03.00am, and tickets are available on the door.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Lake<\/span><\/p>\n

Trip to the Lake District\u00a0 |\u00a0 5 March<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Sometimes we all need to take a break. And there\u2019s no better way than getting back to the outdoors and taking in the beautiful scenery of the Lake District<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

You\u2019ll have the chance to explore three quaint towns in the area, starting with Keswick, where you can visit the ‘best chocolate shop in the Lakes\u2019. The next stop will be Ambleside to see StockGhyll Waterfall. <\/span><\/p>\n

The day will end in Windermere, where you\u2019ll get the opportunity to walk to the top of Orrest Head Hill to take in the stunning views of Lake Windermere and the surrounding mountains during golden hour.<\/span><\/p>\n

The group will leave from the Athena Building on Woodlands Road at 10.00am, and you will return to the same spot at approximately 9.00pm. TUSU Elections 2023 – Cast Your Votes\u00a0 |\u00a0 6 March<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

After you\u2019ve met the candidates for the next Student Officers on 2 March, you\u2019ll have the opportunity to vote for your favourites in the Teesside University Students\u2019 Union Elections 2023<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Remember – your vote is important as it will have a direct impact on who represents you and the rest of the student body in the roles of <\/span>President Education, President International and President Wellbeing. They will work for at least a year leading the SU in full-time, paid roles.<\/span><\/p>\n

As part of the elections, there is also a separate vote to choose the NUS National Conference Reps.<\/span><\/p>\n

Monday Night Quiz – Oscars Special\u00a0 |\u00a0 6 March\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Ahead of the 95th annual Academy Awards, we\u2019re hosting a Monday Night Quiz – Oscars Special<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

You\u2019ll have the chance to (metaphorically) slap the competition with your knowledge around the successes and scandals of previous Oscars ceremonies, and compete to win free drinks for your team.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The quiz will take place in The Terrace, 7.30pm – 11.30pm.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Conversation – Adele Parks\u00a0 |\u00a0 7 March<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Whether you\u2019re a budding novelist, have an interest in literature or just fancy an evening out of the house, you won\u2019t want to miss best-selling author Adele Parks MBE in the next instalment of the University\u2019s new In Conversation<\/a> series.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Teesside University honorary graduate will take us on a journey through her life and career within women\u2019s fiction. There\u2019s also an opportunity to ask your own questions in the meet and greet session.<\/span><\/p>\n

TUSU Elections 2023 – Results Announcement and After Party\u00a0 |\u00a0 8 March<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Once your votes in the Teesside University Students\u2019 Union Elections 2023 have been counted, it\u2019ll be time to announce who has been elected to the Student Officer roles of<\/span> President Education, President International and President Wellbeing, as well as the representatives at the NUS National Conference.<\/span><\/p>\n

The results announcement<\/a> will be followed by an after party to recognise the hard work of all of the candidates and celebrate the successes of the new Student Officers and NUS National Conference representatives.<\/span><\/p>\n

There\u2019s lots of fun to be had at The Hub, 7.00pm – 11.00pm, but the results announcement will also be streamed live on the Students\u2019 Union Facebook<\/a> and Instagram<\/a> pages for those who can\u2019t make it to the in-person event.<\/span><\/p>\n

Get into the spirit of things and wear green. You can even come up with an on-theme team name. We like The Sham-Rockers and Let\u2019s Get This Paddy Started. Who doesn\u2019t love a good pun?<\/span><\/p>\n
