Happy Pancake Day!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

In the UK, we celebrate in style with pancake parties, pancake tosses and even pancake races! <\/span>After all, it\u2019s the one day of the year where these tasty treats get the love and attention they deserve.<\/span><\/p>\n

But, when it comes to the eating, your choice of dressings can be as controversial as whether you put the jam or the cream on a scone first. <\/span><\/p>\n

So, we\u2019re offering up our favourite toppings for debate and inspiration this Shrove Tuesday.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lauren – <\/span><\/strong>“All you need is syrup.”<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

I keep it simple when it comes to pancakes. Why mess with perfection?<\/span><\/p>\n

My go-to is a cr\u00eape (the thinner the better) doused in syrup. <\/span>I usually opt for maple – and lots of it – but golden syrup and others like it work well too.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you want to take it to the next level, add a few dollops of ice cream on the top *chef\u2019s kiss*.<\/span><\/p>\n

Narelle – “For me, it has to be bacon.”<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

I looove the combination of sweet and savoury. <\/span><\/p>\n

So, when it comes to pancakes, it has to be American-style, fluffy pancakes topped with bacon and maple syrup.<\/span><\/p>\n

And I\u2019d definitely recommend the ones from Baker Street Kitchen on Albert Road – wow!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Michelle – “I\u2019m old school, so it\u2019s classic lemon.”<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Taking your pancakes from dessert to breakfast is as easy as adding fruit.<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve never come across a fruit that doesn\u2019t go well with pancakes – strawberries, blueberries, banana, kiwi – so you really can\u2019t go wrong. <\/span><\/p>\n

My favourite is lemon with a dusting of sugar. <\/span>It\u2019s low effort and high reward and reminds me of my childhood.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dave – “Try chocolate spread.”<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Any dessert with chocolate has my attention.<\/span><\/p>\n

So, pancakes coated in thick chocolate or Nutella are a winner for me and the kids.<\/span><\/p>\n

Plus, the spread creates the perfect consistency to decorate with extras, like mini marshmallows or fruit chunks.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our favourites at Talking Teesside are fairly mixed, with sweet, sour and savoury toppings. But, they\u2019re pretty popular choices. <\/span><\/strong>If you\u2019re looking for something a little different, why not try curry, ham and cheese, or pizza pancakes? Yes, they actually exist!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
