{"id":664,"date":"2021-09-02T12:03:11","date_gmt":"2021-09-02T11:03:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.tees.ac.uk\/students\/?p=664"},"modified":"2024-09-04T16:32:22","modified_gmt":"2024-09-04T15:32:22","slug":"preparing-for-the-new-academic-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.tees.ac.uk\/students\/2021\/09\/02\/preparing-for-the-new-academic-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Preparing for the new academic year\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Whether you are going into your first or final year, a new academic year is a great time to refocus and prepare for the hard work ahead of you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Here are some top tips for building the foundations you need to be successful in the year to come:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><strong>Make sure your stationery game is on point.<\/strong> Whether you love a good life planner, or just simple pen and paper, now is a good time to make sure that you have everything that you need for lectures, seminars, and revision.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><strong>Give yourself a goal or two.<\/strong> If you have a paper diary or just using the notes on your phone, set yourself a few goals for the year; think of a couple that are manageable and something that you can look back on at the end of the year. You can use SMART targets to create something that is structured. You\u2019ll feel great achievement at the end of the year if you complete these goals.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><strong>Log into your accounts.<\/strong> The long summer often means that we don\u2019t use our student accounts and it\u2019s easy to forget your password. It\u2019s best to refresh them now rather than at the beginning of a seminar when you rush to log on. You can also make sure that they are super secure by testing it out here at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.security.org\/how-secure-is-my-password\/\">How Secure is My Password?<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><strong>Is your student finance sorted?<\/strong> Even if you were at uni last year you still need to reapply for student finance. If you didn\u2019t do this earlier in the year it is a good idea to do it now so that you have money for the start of term. You might want to shop around for the best student bank account if you are a new student.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><strong>Check out the Teesside Advance store.<\/strong> Each year eligible students receive \u00a3100 credit to spend in the Teesside Advance store.
