The Students\u2019 Union hosts a quiz every week, with the first of the year have a \u00a3100 cash prize for the winners.<\/p>\n
Once the quiz dies down, Flares is perfect for your cheesy music fix.<\/p>\n

Tuesday<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Mixtape at Townhouse and MAYA at Spensley\u2019s Emporium<\/p>\n Moving away from University campus, but not too far, is Mixtape, held at the Townhouse.<\/p>\n A smaller venue, Mixtape is Middlesbrough\u2019s longest running indie night out.<\/p>\n They offer very fair prices on drinks, with doubles only setting you back \u00a32.<\/p>\n Mixtape finishes at around 2am but they offer a free taxi service all the way over to Spensley\u2019s Emporium on Albert Road for MAYA, which stays open till 4am.<\/p>\n (image belongs to Mixtape)<\/p>\n (image belongs to MAYA)<\/p>\n Wednesday<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Go-Ninja at Spensley\u2019s Emporium<\/p>\n Wednesday is another main student night –\u00a0 you\u2019ll find the most people out tonight.<\/p>\n Go-Ninja has several floors that are open and each floor has its own sound.<\/p>\n Tickets can be bought from our Students\u2019 Union so why not start there before you go to Go-Ninja.<\/p>\n (image belongs to Go Ninja)<\/p>\n Thursday<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Creeps at Medicine Bar<\/p>\n Creeps is the unique nightclub a bit further away from the campus, located near Cineworld.<\/p>\n They have a different theme for every week, this element makes Creeps so special.<\/p>\n One week you could be going to \u2018an hour of movie soundtracks\u2019 or \u2018Space Rave: Dance Anthems\u2019.<\/p>\n They cater for all tastes and their drinks are fairly priced too, with shots for \u00a31.<\/p>\n (caption: image belongs to Creeps)<\/p>\n Friday<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Fang at Empire<\/p>\n Having taken over from Sumo in late 2018, Fang has taken off with some ingenious theme nights.<\/p>\n They have a monthly \u2018Pound Fang\u2019 in which entry and drinks are \u00a31.<\/p>\n They also have ridiculous theme nights like \u2018Shrek Fang\u2019 in which donkey masks and Shrek ears are handed out.<\/p>\n They create themed drinks and the film\u2019s soundtrack is played.<\/p>\n (image belongs to Fang)<\/p>\n Saturday<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Shangri-la at Empire and Yo-Yo at Spensley\u2019s Emporium<\/p>\n Saturday is the day of choice. While the weekend is not as big a deal for students as it is full-time workers, it\u2019s still the biggest night in town.<\/p>\n Shangri-La, new to Empire, has some of the best variety of music, with four different places to listen.<\/p>\n Yo-Yo was the former Tuesday night event, but with its growing popularity Spensley\u2019s moved it to Saturday.<\/p>\n The Saturday move allows a greater opportunity for a wider audience, DJs and celeb appearances.<\/p>\n (image blongs to Shangri-La<\/p>\n Sunday<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n The Southfield<\/p>\n Sunday is a chill day. This is likely the day you\u2019ve dedicated your hangover for.<\/p>\n Grab a hearty takeaway, eat as much comfort food as you need and if you still have some energy then head down to the Southfield.<\/p>\n They host a speed quiz every Sunday.<\/p>\n It is completely free, lots of fun and you can win prizes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Freshers kicked off 14 September this year, lasting two weeks.
