Considering\u00a0a nursing career but studied something else at undergraduate\u00a0level?\u00a0Not a problem\u00a0\u2013\u00a0here\u2019s\u00a0how you can prepare yourself for a rewarding career.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

You can study\u00a0one of our\u00a0MSc\u00a0pre-registration\u00a0nursing\u00a0programmes\u00a0and become a registered band 5 staff nurse\u00a0in just two years.\u00a0This is an accelerated route to\u00a0professional registration, and you can choose from adult, child, mental health or learning disability nursing.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If you have a degree in any subject, these courses are your route in \u2013 and it doesn\u2019t need to be healthcare-related. Students from a wide range of undergraduate backgrounds \u2013 everything from media and psychology to biomedical sciences, history and English \u2013 succeed on these programmes. Of course, you still need to meet the entry requirements, such as having 500 hours of health or social care experience and a portfolio of evidence.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

You must also be\u00a0hardworking,\u00a0organised\u00a0and\u00a0passionate about delivering\u00a0high-quality\u00a0nursing care. We value\u00a0applicants\u00a0who show\u00a0a strong desire\u00a0to develop their knowledge and skills\u00a0to\u00a0become confident, competent practitioners.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The MSc programmes are 50% theory and 50% practical, ensuring you are career ready. Practical lab and skills sessions provide the knowledge and experience needed to prepare for clinical practice. During placements, you work in a variety of different settings, from community to hospital environments, giving you a wide range of experiences.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

You\u00a0graduate\u00a0with a master\u2019s\u00a0qualification,\u00a0opening up\u00a0accelerated career opportunities, including\u00a0management roles, matron\u00a0positions\u00a0and research posts down the line.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But why\u00a0choose the MSc route instead of completing another BSc?\u00a0Well,\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0a\u00a0two-year\u00a0programme,\u00a0allowing\u00a0you\u00a0to build on\u00a0your\u00a0existing\u00a0degree level\u00a0study.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0a great\u00a0option\u00a0if you\u00a0already have experience in health or social care\u00a0and\u00a0want to\u00a0further\u00a0develop\u00a0your\u00a0knowledge and skills.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
