Nobody\u00a0likes\u00a0rushing to finish assignments. As a student with an arts\u00a0background,\u00a0my assessments have been\u00a0largely\u00a0coursework-based.\u00a0\u00a0If\u00a0you\u2019re\u00a0feeling overwhelmed by\u00a0coursework,\u00a0you\u2019re\u00a0not alone.\u00a0Here are\u00a0some\u00a0mistakes\u00a0I\u2019ve\u00a0made in the past,\u00a0along with\u00a0the\u00a0tips and tricks that have helped me\u00a0learn to\u00a0manage\u00a0my coursework and\u00a0get\u00a0better\u00a0grades.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

My\u00a0previous\u00a0approach<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Back in my pre-university days, I was\u00a0really\u00a0disorganised\u00a0and\u00a0couldn\u2019t\u00a0quite grasp the urgency of a deadline.\u00a0With no one to keep me accountable, this led to late nights and work that\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0meet my expectations. I blocked out work time in my calendar but\u00a0often\u00a0forgot to check\u00a0it, and\u00a0instead\u00a0ended up\u00a0doing\u00a0my coursework spontaneously. Without proper planning,\u00a0this ate into my free time.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Keep a calendar<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I now keep a highly personalised calendar with color-coded classes,\u00a0making it easier to prepare\u00a0my\u00a0coursework for that day. I use Google Calendar to stay organised and number each week of the\u00a0semester\u00a0so I know how\u00a0close\u00a0I am to\u00a0deadlines.\u00a0To make sure I\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0forget, I\u00a0set my calendar to\u00a0always\u00a0open with my browser.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Find a\u00a0productive\u00a0environment<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Finding a good place to work starts with understanding what your distractions are. Is it music,\u00a0crowds\u00a0or\u00a0lights? Or\u00a0is there somewhere that\u00a0motivates you?\u00a0Personally, I love doing my coursework in the animation lab because working with my course\u00a0mates and exchanging ideas with them\u00a0is what motivates me.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Managing breaks<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s\u00a0also important to know how to take a good break. Like most people, I like to scroll on my phone,\u00a0but that\u00a0often\u00a0overwhelms me further, especially when my course involves a lot of screen time. Going for a walk is\u00a0a great way\u00a0to de-stress\u00a0\u2013\u00a0I like\u00a0going to\u00a0Albert Park,\u00a0which is only\u00a0a 10-minute walk from campus,\u00a0to enjoy the greenery and lake full of birds.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
