Make a note if you have any questions – you’ll get the opportunity to ask these at the end.

What are the types of questions?

Most of the questions align with the NHS values so it’s important to familiarise yourself with these beforehand.

For some health courses, you may be asked scenario-based questions that are relevant to the area you’re applying for. For example, a nursing applicant might be asked something like, ‘If a patient were to fall out of bed, how would you help in this situation?’ Use these questions as an opportunity to highlight your skills, experience and values.

How to prepare

You’ll have access to the interview questions in advance, so make sure you set aside some time to prepare and think about your answers.

It’s also a good idea to read through the course page to ensure you fully understand what the course is all about. You might also want to do some research into the role as well, as this can help demonstrate that you understand the profession you’re applying for.

When will I hear back?

Try not to worry if you don’t hear back straight away. Sometimes you may not hear back until around March time, so relax and stay positive!

Final top tip

Prepare well and try to be confident.
