Many academic and support staff across Teesside University are involved in personal tutoring and\/or advising our students. \u00a0As many of you know, Teesside University has a Personal Tutoring Code of Practice which was introduced in September 2018.\u00a0 The purpose of this Code was to ensure that there was a consistent approach to Personal Tutoring across the University.\u00a0 Teesside University has a long history of excellent practices around Personal Tutoring and these helped to inform and shape the development of the Code of Practice.\u00a0 Subsequent to the implementation of this Code excellent practices have continued to grow and develop.<\/p>\n

There is an opportunity for colleagues at Teesside to showcase all the good work that they are doing in the area of Personal Tutoring and Advising in a new book entitled:<\/p>\n

The Higher Education Personal Tutor\u2019s and Advisor\u2019s Companion: Translating theory into practice to improve student success<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The first of its kind in UK higher education personal tutoring and advising, this book will constitute a unique collection of case studies curated by experts.\u00a0 It will build upon the success of Effective Personal Tutoring in Higher Education (2018)<\/a> and advance this underdeveloped field through the sharing of effective practice.<\/p>\n

The editors\u00a0(Dave Lochtie, Andy Stork and Ben Walker) are seeking contributions on a range of themes and from a\u00a0wide\u00a0variety of HE\u00a0institutions.\u00a0 If you share a passion for personal tutoring and advising and have a successful story to tell, they would love you to be part of this exciting new publication.<\/p>\n

UK Advising and Tutoring (UKAT) are excited to announce a call for contributions for this new book and are co-publishing and supporting\u00a0its development.\u00a0 Although\u00a0this is\u00a0an\u00a0independent publication\u00a0and\u00a0not a\u00a0UKAT-led\u00a0work,\u00a0it\u00a0aligns\u00a0 with UKAT\u2019s charitable mission to enhance personal tutoring and advisory practices.<\/p>\n
