{"id":9066,"date":"2020-05-20T12:00:16","date_gmt":"2020-05-20T11:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.tees.ac.uk\/lteonline\/?p=9066"},"modified":"2020-05-20T11:15:38","modified_gmt":"2020-05-20T10:15:38","slug":"adding-faq-to-your-module","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.tees.ac.uk\/lteonline\/2020\/05\/20\/adding-faq-to-your-module\/","title":{"rendered":"Adding Frequently Asked Questions to your module"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In a previous blog post we discussed how adding a Frequently Asked Questions section to your module can help to simplify your online delivery: <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.tees.ac.uk\/lteonline\/2020\/04\/29\/simplify-your-online-teaching-approach\/\">https:\/\/blogs.tees.ac.uk\/lteonline\/2020\/04\/29\/simplify-your-online-teaching-approach\/<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The following are a few simple ways in which you could add a FAQ section to your module.<\/p>\n<h3>Add a FAQ item to your module menu<\/h3>\n<p>One of the easiest ways to create a FAQ section would be to make a new area similar to <strong>Learning Materials<\/strong>. Each question would be the title of a <strong>Content Item<\/strong>, and the answer would be the content item itself. To do this simply add a new <strong>Content Area<\/strong> called FAQ to your module menu, go into the new FAQ area then click on <strong>Build Content\u00a0<\/strong>and then select\u00a0<strong>Item<\/strong>. You can then add the question and answers into the text box before clicking <strong>Submit<\/strong>. Remember to make the FAQ link on the menu available to students if you haven\u2019t already.<\/p>\n<h3>Padlet<\/h3>\n<p>You can also utilise Padlet to create your FAQ section. By using Padlet it means that your students can post questions and their classmates can see your response. This reduces the amount of repeated questions being asked, as students can check the Padlet wall before asking a question to check whether it has already been answered. To access this, click on\u00a0<strong>Course Tools\u00a0<\/strong>and then\u00a0<strong>Glossary<\/strong>. Clicking on\u00a0<strong>Create Term\u00a0<\/strong>allows you to add questions in alphabetical order. You can add the question into the &#8216;term\u2019 box and then answer in the &#8216;definition\u2019 box. When you\u2019ve added all of your terms make a link to the Glossary tool either on the menu or somewhere easy to find in your module, without a link to it students won\u2019t be able to see your FAQ. By using the Glossary tool in this way, your students are able to browse through the questions in a more structured and ordered way.<\/p>\n<h3>Discussion Boards<\/h3>\n<p>Using the discussion board feature creates a searchable tool for your FAQs, whilst also getting your students involved in a similar way to Padlet. Students are able to ask a question, and yourself or their fellow students can answer the question and see each others responses.
