{"id":7771,"date":"2019-10-29T12:04:41","date_gmt":"2019-10-29T12:04:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.tees.ac.uk\/lteonline\/?p=7771"},"modified":"2019-10-29T12:04:41","modified_gmt":"2019-10-29T12:04:41","slug":"enhancing-staffworkshop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.tees.ac.uk\/lteonline\/2019\/10\/29\/enhancing-staffworkshop\/","title":{"rendered":"Enhancing Staff and Students Partnerships in Learning- Advance Notice of Workshop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We have an exciting workshop opportunity coming up around <strong>\u2018Enhancing Staff and Students Partnerships in Learning\u2019<\/strong> delivered by an External Consultant, John Lea.<\/p>\n<p>John is currently the Research Director for the Higher Education Funding Council for England catalyst funded project centred on enhancing scholarship in college HE in England.\u00a0 Before taking up this post he was the Head of Academic Professional Development at Canterbury Christ Church University, UK.<\/p>\n<p>From 2008-2011 he was Chair of the UK\u2019s Universities\u2019 Council for the Education of Teachers (UCET) Post-16 Committee, and from 2010-2013 he was a co-opted member of the Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA) Executive Committee, with a remit to raise the profile of HE provided outside universities. He is a Senior Fellow of SEDA, and a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.\u00a0 In November 2018 he was placed on the SEDA Roll of Honour.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He explored the positive and negative sides to the debates about academic freedom, multiculturalism and affirmative action, in Political Correctness and Higher Education: British and American perspectives (Routledge 2009). He is also the author of the popular free download: 77 Things to think about teaching and learning in higher education, available here: <a href=\"http:\/\/linked.space\/johnlea\/77-things-to-think-about\/\">http:\/\/linked.space\/johnlea\/77-things-to-think-about\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>His latest book is Enhancing Learning and Teaching in Higher Education: engaging with the dimensions of practice (Open UP, 2015).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In this workshop John will be looking at initiatives aimed at enhancing learning through staff and student partnerships.
