What is it?<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Socrative<\/a> is an online tool that lets you quickly create simple quizzes and polls that you can use in our out of the classroom. Sometimes these types of tools are called Learner Response Systems.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s it for?<\/strong><\/h5>\n

It\u2019s a great tool that lets you easily test your student\u2019s comprehension, gather feedback or ask questions.<\/p>\n

Is there an app for it?<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Yes, two apps in fact, Socrative Teacher and Socrative Student. You create your quiz or poll via the Teacher app and your audience takes part via the Student app. But don\u2019t worry, even if you (or your audience) don\u2019t have the apps installed you can still access all of Socrative online in a web browser at https:\/\/www.socrative.com<\/a><\/p>\n

How long does it take to set up?<\/strong><\/h5>\n

You can be up and running with Socrative in minutes. Either download the Socrative Teacher app or go to https:\/\/www.socrative.com<\/a> and create a free Teacher account. Once you\u2019re logged in you can create an unlimited number of quizzes. Socrative only has 3 questions types to choose from, Multiple Choice, True\/False or Short Answer, so it\u2019s really simple to start creating content. You can add an image to each of your questions and you can also add an explanation to each one as well. When you\u2019re ready, you deploy your quiz and direct your students to a virtual “room” to take part. Responses are stored in Socrative and are available for you to export or share with students.<\/p>\n

Are other people using it?<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Yes, Socrative is part of the Future Facing Learning toolkit and has been used across the University for a number of years. Socrative\u2019s simple interface sets a really low barrier to entry, you really can be up and running with it in a few minutes even if you\u2019ve not used a Learner Response System before.<\/p>\n

Support for Students<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Dedicated iPad support for students is available from Nicki Wise who is based on the ground floor of the Library. Nicki\u2019s role is to help and support students to get maximum benefit from their devices and the toolkit.<\/p>\n

Nicki is available to students for drop ins between 09:00-16:00, Monday to Friday throughout Semester 1 in the Library. Students can also book a 1 to 1 session with Nicki<\/a>.<\/p>\n
