About Class Teams and the Class Notebook<\/strong><\/h6>\n

With Microsoft Teams you can set up a Class Team.\u00a0 <\/strong>Class Teams include a Class Notebook<\/strong> (OneNote) which once set-up provides a Collaboration Space<\/strong> that allow teachers and students to collaborate on group projects.\u00a0 The Collaboration Space in the Class Notebook is by default available for all members of the Team to edit.<\/p>\n

How to setup Collaboration Space sections for groups<\/strong><\/h6>\n

What if you want to use the Collaboration space for group work with specific student groups?<\/p>\n

For this scenario you can create new sections in the Collaboration Space for example Group 1 , Group 2 and so on.\u00a0 This provides separate sections for students to work within.\u00a0 These can be added when you set-up an OneNote Class Notebook in Microsoft Teams.<\/p>\n

If you have an existing Class Team with a Notebook already setup you can still add sections to your collaborative spaces.\u00a0 Firstly, open the Team Class Notebook<\/strong> click within the Collaboration Space<\/strong> and select Insert<\/strong> and New Section<\/strong>.\u00a0 This will allow you to create custom sections for each of your groups.<\/p>\n

\"New<\/a><\/p>\n

How to set group permissions <\/strong><\/h6>\n

Now you have group spaces you will need to set permissions to give students access to their allocated group only.\u00a0 \u00a0Currently you will need to do this in the online app version of OneNote<\/strong>\u00a0Class Notebook<\/strong>\u00a0within Office 365<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

To do this follow these steps:<\/p>\n

  1. Access the Class Notebook app online with you Teesside University Microsoft account here: onenote.com\/classnotebook<\/a><\/li>\n
  2. Click on the link to Manage Notebooks.
    \n<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong>
    \n    \"Manage<\/a><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong>The Manage notebooks<\/strong> page will load.\u00a0 Scroll down through your notebooks to find the Team you want to allocate group spaces too.<\/p>\n

    \"\"<\/a><\/li>\n

  3. Within your Team Notebook access the Collaboration Space permissions <\/strong>area.<\/li>\n
  4. You are now able to Manage Section Permissions<\/strong> select the pencil icon next to your group collaboration space and ensure only those students whom you want to access the group are selected within each of the collaboration spaces.\"\"<\/a><\/li>\n
  5. When finished Save<\/strong> your selections. Now when your students access the Class Notebook from within the Team they will only see their group page in the Collaboration Space.\"\"<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
