The focus for the 2023-24 LTExChange Symposia Series is \u201cThe Connected University\u201d. The series will bring together and engage key stakeholders to support new thinking and share practice innovations as we consider what it means to be a truly \u201cConnected University\u201d in what is an increasingly uncertain higher education landscape. Through the series we will be considering, more specifically, what it means for the university, staff, and students to be \u2018globally connected\u2019 and how we can prepare our staff and students to adapt and develop \u2018socially and ethically engaged\u2019 approaches to learning that will meet future challenges.<\/p>\n

The third and final symposium in this year\u2019s series focuses on the theme of \u2018The Student\u2019 and we are delighted to welcome Professor Alison Cook-Sather (Bryn Mawr University, US)<\/a> as our keynote speaker for the event. The title and outline for Alison\u2019s talk can be found below.<\/p>\n

The Value of Student-Staff Partnership Work in Preparing for a Globally Connected World<\/strong><\/p>\n

By Professor Alison Cook-Sather, Mary Katharine Woodworth Professor of Education and Director, Peace, Conflict and Social Justice concentration and Director, Teaching and Learning Institute, Bryn Mawr and Haverford Colleges.<\/p>\n

In this interactive keynote, Dr. Alison Cook-Sather will invite reflection on the definition and premises of student-staff partnership that have guided her own and others\u2019 work and on illustrative examples of partnerships between students and academic and professional staff. Drawing on these examples and a forthcoming chapter co-authored with students, she will facilitate exploration of how partnership work prepares students for connecting with a diversity of people post graduation through building competencies for a career-ready workforce.<\/p>\n

Disciplinary Insights \u2013 share your practice!\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

The LTExChange symposium explores the changing relationships between technology, teaching practice, curriculum design, and stakeholders both within and beyond our courses (students, staff, industry). To this end, colleagues are invited to submit a short expression of interest to showcase and discuss practice-based work aligned to the theme of \u2018The Connected Student\u2019 \u00a0in learning and teaching. Those colleagues selected to contribute to the symposium will take on the role of a panel member for the panel discussion that will follow the keynote address. The panel will explore, share, and discuss examples of practice, as well as key issues and opportunities relating to the theme of \u2018Connected Communities\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>To register an expression of interest to contribute to the disciplinary insights panel discussion of the symposium please submit a 100-word (maximum) outline of the work you would like to share to Professor Sam Elkington<\/strong> (S.Elkington@tees.ac.uk<\/a>) by 5pm on Friday 5th<\/sup> April.<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n
