Actions<\/strong> menu.\u00a0 Groups access has been moved from the <strong>Details &amp; Actions<\/strong> menu to the top navigation menu, this improves the visibility and prominence of Groups within Blackboard.\u00a0 It also acts to reinforce the importance of the \u2018Group\u2019 feature usage<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-14236 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.tees.ac.uk\/lteonline\/files\/2023\/07\/P2_Image01.jpg\" alt=\"Images showing Group access has been moved to the top navigation menu in Blackboard\" width=\"921\" height=\"59\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.tees.ac.uk\/lteonline\/files\/2023\/07\/P2_Image01.jpg 1030w, https:\/\/blogs.tees.ac.uk\/lteonline\/files\/2023\/07\/P2_Image01-300x19.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.tees.ac.uk\/lteonline\/files\/2023\/07\/P2_Image01-1024x66.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.tees.ac.uk\/lteonline\/files\/2023\/07\/P2_Image01-768x49.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 921px) 100vw, 921px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right\"><a href=\"#Top\">Back to top<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5><a id=\"Flags\"><\/a>Individual Module level Analytics: Students with alerts flags in the Module Activity Report<\/h5>\n<p>When teaching multiple modules with large student numbers identifying those students at risk and in need of support can be a difficult task.\u00a0 To support staff, Teesside University uses StREAM\u2019s learner analytics platform, for more information please the article \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/eatsupport.tees.ac.uk\/staff\/knowledgebase\/stream-faq\/\">StREAM &amp; Learner Analytics \u2013 Frequently Asked Questions<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Module Leaders can enhance their understanding of student and platform usage using the <strong>Analytics<\/strong> options available within their Blackboard modules.<\/p>\n<p><strong>*IMPORTANT<\/strong>: It should be noted that this feature can be used to support StREAM to help monitor at module level, student progress.\u00a0 It is not a replacement for StREAM and does not include the functionality that StREAM does.<\/p>\n<p>To access analytics from within a Blackboard module, select <strong>Analytics<\/strong> from the top navigation menu.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-14237 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.tees.ac.uk\/lteonline\/files\/2023\/07\/P2_Image02.jpg\" alt=\"Image showing how to access Analytics via the top navigation menu in Blackboard Ultra.\" width=\"923\" height=\"71\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.tees.ac.uk\/lteonline\/files\/2023\/07\/P2_Image02.jpg 1027w, https:\/\/blogs.tees.ac.uk\/lteonline\/files\/2023\/07\/P2_Image02-300x23.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.tees.ac.uk\/lteonline\/files\/2023\/07\/P2_Image02-1024x79.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.tees.ac.uk\/lteonline\/files\/2023\/07\/P2_Image02-768x59.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 923px) 100vw, 923px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By default, the Blackboard analytics opens on the <strong>Module Activity<\/strong> tab in \u2018List view\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-14254 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.tees.ac.uk\/lteonline\/files\/2023\/07\/P2_Image03_NEW-1.jpg\" alt=\"Image showing the new alter flag that appears next to student names in Course Activity Report.\" width=\"989\" height=\"580\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.tees.ac.uk\/lteonline\/files\/2023\/07\/P2_Image03_NEW-1.jpg 1018w, https:\/\/blogs.tees.ac.uk\/lteonline\/files\/2023\/07\/P2_Image03_NEW-1-300x176.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.tees.ac.uk\/lteonline\/files\/2023\/07\/P2_Image03_NEW-1-768x450.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 989px) 100vw, 989px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In the latest update to Blackboard, a flag symbol now appears for students with alerts in the <strong>Module Activity r<\/strong>eport. \u00a0Module Leaders can customise alerts based on the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Number of days a student is inactive in the module.<\/li>\n<li>A student\u2019s overall grade in the module is below a specific percentage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To configure the alerts, click on the <strong>Alert Settings<\/strong> link located towards the top right corner of the screen.\u00a0 The previously mentioned \u2018days inactive on the module\u2019 and \u2018overall grade\u2019 below specific percentage\u2019 triggers can now be entered.<\/p>\n<p>Module Leaders can also decide if they want to send a copy of these alerts to the student\u2019s activity stream.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-14239 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.tees.ac.uk\/lteonline\/files\/2023\/07\/P2_Image04.jpg\" alt=\"Image showing the Alert Setting menu relating to studednt performance and activity.\" width=\"359\" height=\"342\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.tees.ac.uk\/lteonline\/files\/2023\/07\/P2_Image04.jpg 544w, https:\/\/blogs.tees.ac.uk\/lteonline\/files\/2023\/07\/P2_Image04-300x285.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 359px) 100vw, 359px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>*Note<\/strong> Remember these settings exist to quickly highlight to Module Leaders, student engagement concerns.\u00a0 This should be used alongside Teesside University\u2019s learner analytics software StREAM to offer enhanced student progress tracking and identification of students possibly at risk.<\/p>\n<p>Hovering the mouse cursor over a flag will allow an alert type to be viewed.\u00a0 The module leader can also update the <strong>Filter<\/strong> <strong>alert<\/strong> dropdown box to show All students, Students with alerts and students without alerts.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-14255 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.tees.ac.uk\/lteonline\/files\/2023\/07\/P2_Image05_NEW-1.jpg\" alt=\"Image showing the use of an Alert Flag to quickly identify why the alert has been generatd (in this example it is due to the last access being greater than 5 days.\" width=\"952\" height=\"433\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.tees.ac.uk\/lteonline\/files\/2023\/07\/P2_Image05_NEW-1.jpg 1025w, https:\/\/blogs.tees.ac.uk\/lteonline\/files\/2023\/07\/P2_Image05_NEW-1-300x136.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.tees.ac.uk\/lteonline\/files\/2023\/07\/P2_Image05_NEW-1-768x349.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 952px) 100vw, 952px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Module Leaders can also identify students with alerts in other views of the <strong>Module Activity r<\/strong>eport.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In the chart, purple dots indicate students with at least one alert. Module Leaders can select the dot to display student information.<\/li>\n<li>In the CSV download, the <em>Low overall grade<\/em> and <em>Last access alert<\/em> columns indicate when a student has an alert.<\/li>\n<li>As before, activity stream notifications summarise students with alerts per module.
