Online Learning Designer (TUOLE)

James graduated from Teesside University with an M.Sc. in Digital Media in 2000 and a B.A (hons) degree in Marketing in 1999. James also has a PGCE which he undertook in 2005.

James was previously employed as Course Leader and Lecturer in Web Development and Digital Media for the BTEC Media, Games and IT programmes at Stockton Riverside College. His role provided co-ordination and strategic direction to the teaching team, encouraging innovation and curriculum development. He is experienced in managing a large team, promotion and marketing of courses and developing close links with industry. James brought online new trainee-ship courses as well as full-cost provision to build upon the course portfolio and generate alternative revenue streams. He worked closely alongside the Head of Teaching and learning, developing flipped and blended learning strategies, primarily using Microsoft Sharepoint. An up-to-date knowledge of the rapidly evolving computing and creative digital arena, combined with proven teaching experience, James increased learner numbers and improved retention, achievement and success rates across the programme area.

Prior to teaching, James working in advertising and marketing as an Account Manager for Ellahi and Pinkney Ltd, managing a portfolio of accounts and maintaining relationships with clients. James also has a broad experience of industry projects developing dynamic web applications and interactive media solutions for SMEs; blending creative interface design with functionality and standards compliance. His specialties include Web Authoring and Dynamic Web Development, 3D Modelling and Animation, Mixed Reality and Immersive Learning and Teaching.

James is currently an Online Learning Designer at Teesside University. Providing solutions and content development for the delivery of Module Content Refresh Project for TUOLE, as well as TU Online.
