Outline: The event itself will showcase and discuss work developed through the University’s Institutional Retention Project. There will be opportunities to engage with School and central department project leads who will be sharing key insights and findings from interventions and practice developments implemented at School and University level.

9.15 – 9.30: Introducing the LTExChange series and today’s focus topic of Student Retention and Success.

9.30 – 10.30: Keynote talk – “Enhancing Student Retention and Success: Work Works?” delivered by Dr. Liz Austen and Rebecca Hodgson from Sheffield Hallam University who will be outlining key work they have completed in the sector alongside actionable insights for educators and academic leaders. 10.30 – 10.45 Break

10.45 – 11.45: Enhancing Student Retention – School Perspectives.

  • 10-minute lightening talks from School Retention Project Leads on key initiatives and learning following the implementation of School-level retention plans.
  • This will be followed by questions and discussion around key emerging themes and ideas.

11.45 – 12.15: A panel discussion

  • Comprising colleagues from our Central Departments (Student and Library Services and Student Futures) who will be joined by School Retention Project Leads, exploring emerging themes, challenges, and future opportunities in the retention and success of students.
