SLAR has just launched Ally – a unique way of improving the accessibility of your online teaching materials.

Integrating seamlessly with Blackboard, it:

  • supports the University in meeting its responsibilities under the new accessibility requirements for public sector websites; and
  • allows students to access their learning materials in a variety of automatically created formats, such as audiobook, screen reader or electronic braille; and
  • assists academic colleagues in producing more accessible learning materials by scanning each content item and providing simple, in place help for them to make improvements

Ally will be a key component of our new VLE coming in September, but we were so impressed with it, we have turned it on early to give colleagues a heads-up and a chance to try out what is to come.
