Take time to explore as much content as you can to give yourself the best possible start!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pre-Course Reading<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Keeping Children Safe in Education \u2013 Part 1<\/em> (2024) and <em>What to do if you are worried about a child&#8230;<\/em> (2015) are\u00a0government\u00a0safeguarding guidance.\u00a0Whilst we will talk about safeguarding as part of your course and it will be a key element of your placement experiences, it is important that you\u00a0have an understanding of\u00a0what safeguarding is and what to do if you have any concerns.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/keeping-children-safe-in-education--2\">Keeping children safe in education &#8211; GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/what-to-do-if-youre-worried-a-child-is-being-abused--2\">Child abuse concerns: guide for practitioners &#8211; GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The next two documents are key to your success in training as a teacher into the Early Career Framework. These are the Initial Teacher Training and Early Career Framework (ITTECF) and The Teacher\u2019s Standards:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/teachers-standards\">standards &#8211; GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>ITTECF:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/assets.publishing.service.gov.uk\/media\/661d24ac08c3be25cfbd3e61\/Initial_Teacher_Training_and_Early_Career_Framework.pdf\">https:\/\/assets.publishing.service.gov.uk\/media\/661d24ac08c3be25cfbd3e61\/Initial_Teacher_Training_and_Early_Career_Framework.pdf<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Finally, you should\u00a0familiarise\u00a0yourself with the National Curriculum (2014). Focus on the age range and subject(s) you are training to teach. For example, if you are training for Primary, you will need to look at all subjects for Key Stages One and Two.\u00a0For Secondary, read around the programmes of study for your subject(s) for Key Stages Three and Four.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/collections\/national-curriculum\">National curriculum &#8211; GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In addition,\u00a0you may wish to\u00a0familiarise\u00a0yourself with the following study skills.
