The earth and environment group takes an interdisciplinary approach to address key global change issues and developing sustainable solutions, based on expertise ranging from genomics, biogeochemistry and analytical chemistry.

Current funded research include: monitoring receding glaciers, peatland management for carbon sequestration, biochemical factors affecting archaeological artefact preservation, post-industrial ecological recovery and quantification of microplastic pollution in rivers.
