Criminology & Criminal Justice is a research theme within the Centre for Social Innovation at Teesside University. This site features contributions from researchers engaged in the fields of crime, harm, criminal justice and across the social sciences. We offer a mix of commentary on current events and coverage of new and ongoing research within the team.
Criminology has a long history at Teesside University – the first criminology degree in the UK was launched at Teesside. We have a strong tradition of research excellence in criminology, criminal justice, social policy, sociology, and forensic psychology and we continue that today with local, regional, national and internationally recognised research in a diverse range of areas. We also support a strong postgraduate community and contributions to this blog include our Masters and PhD students.
The original idea for a research blog came from Sean Murphy. Sean was a former youth worker and social scientist in the School of Social Sciences, Humanities & Law who sadly passed away in October 2021. His original blog posts can be found here https://crimsoc.home.blog/about-us/
