Teesside University PhD student Patience Ezinwoke led a group of children in her home country Nigeria to build a Christmas tree out of books. Patience had taken inspiration from Rebecca Willoughby a librarian from Teesside. The children aged between 2 and 14 were thrilled by the concept and built the tree while happily singing Christmas songs. The event was shown on the local TV station and Patience read to the children from her book The Lost Beach which she wrote while studying for her MA in Creative Writing. The book won the 2013 Nigerian Author’s Prize for teen fiction.
