Ciliate Protists
Ciliate protists are unicellular organisms that have cilia at some point in their life cycle. These short, hair-like structures are used for movement and for collecting food. These organisms are common almost anywhere where there is water, for example, lakes, ponds, soils and rivers. Most Cilliate are harmless, however some are parasitic.(TheeditorsofEncyclopaediaBritannica, no date)
Gorilla Beringei Beringei
The Eastern Mountain Gorilla, also called Gorilla beringei beringei, is a subspecies of the eastern gorilla that lives in the hilly Central African countries of Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
There are less than 1,000 of them left in the wild, making them severely endangered. These gorillas live in woodland environments between 2,200 and 4,300 meters above sea level.
Plant material, including leaves, stems, and fruit, serves as their primary food source. Social groupings are led by a dominant male silverback, and their survival is supported by ecotourism and anti-poaching initiatives.

Throughout this webpage, we will look through the processes of adaptation, cellular organisation, metabolism and reproduction of the Mountain gorilla and Ciliate protist, to distinguish the comparisons that are made between these organisms.
